São Paulo – The idea is to start exporting by the Arab world. With five direct employees and a monthly output of 100 units, the Rio de Janeiro-based company ZIPLux, which makes street lighting poles, is establishing a new commercial representation in the Middle East to gain space in the region. The company is also putting together a special catalogue of items to supply those markets.
"We will have five or six products focused on the Arab countries," explains Walen Nogueira de Souza Cruz Júnior, the director of ZIPLux. The company specializes in developing solar-powered street lighting solutions. The items include wireless aluminium poles that may serve as eco-friendly posts. "We have five-metre tall wireless poles and 1.1 metre-tall mini-poles that may be used in condominiums, for instance," says Júnior.
The advantages of using the system, according to the company, include the fact that most of the components have a durability of approximately 20 years, the ease of recycling these parts, lower maintenance costs, and lower risk of accident in handling the poles, among other aspects.
Why start with the Arabs? "The cities in the main Arab countries, such as Dubai, in the Emirates, have a high tourist turnover, and they are open to differentiated, sustainable products, so they appreciate initiatives such as ours," says Júnior. Not to mention the fact that these places have plenty of sunlight. The executive is curious to take a close look at Dubai, and claims that he is eager to know the Middle East. "I am waiting until we strike a deal," he claims. After the Middle East, the company plans on investing in Europe.
ZIPLux was established in 2008 by the entrepreneurs in charge of Zidesign, a product project development and brand-management company that has been on the market for 11 years.
