Geneva (Switzerland) – President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva declared yesterday in Geneva that his government hopes to increase significantly the nearly US$ 11 billion in direct foreign investments made in 2003.
At a meeting with around 200 executives from large international corporations at UN headquarters in Geneva, Lula said that Brazil possesses solid democratic institutions and a stable, diversified economy that offer enormous potential and opportunities for investors.
"This year we shall have growth of 3-4%. It is not all we desire, but it represents a new beginning in a consistent setting of macroeconomic stability and fiscal discipline," Lula said at the meeting, which was also attended by the Ministers of Finance, Development, Planning, Tourism, and Foreign Relations.
