São Paulo – Last Tuesday (5th), the former Brazilian president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was visited by a delegation from Sudan at the Lula Institute, in São Paulo. The delegation, which will spend the week in Brazil, comprises government officials and businessmen from the Arab country, and is headed by the Sudanese minister of Petroleum, Awad Ahmed Eljazz, and accompanied by the Sudanese ambassador in Brasília, Abd Elghani Elkarim. The CEO of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Michel Alaby, also attended the meeting.
The delegation convened with the CEO of the Lula Institute, Paulo Okamoto, prior to meeting with the former president. The Sudanese and Okamoto discussed natural resources and food safety. They also reiterated an invite extended for Lula to visit Sudan alongside Brazilian business executives.
According to information from the Lula Institute, the Sudanese delegation paid the former president a “courtesy visit.” Regarding the invitation, the institute informed only that there are no scheduled trips to Sudan.
Apart from having travelled to São Paulo, where a cooperation agreement was signed with the local Secretariat for Energy of the State, the delegation will travel to Brasília and Rio de Janeiro. An agreement should also be signed with the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy.
