Brasília – Speaking during the 5th Parliamentary Network video conference on the World Bank, which is taking place in France, president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva declared that the International Monetary Fund needs to make changes in the way it deals with developing countries. "The IMF needs more than just one recipe. It is always the same thing: a rigid fiscal adjustment which often hinders growth," said Lula.
The president of Brazil called for a more pro- economic growth and income distribution position. "The IMF has to distinguish between productive investments and debt. I believe this is something that will occur in time. It is a matter of time. We need to talk more about this. Members of parliaments around the world can help get this dialogue rolling," said Lula.
