São Paulo – The Brazilian machinery and equipment posted revenues of 40.15 billion reals (US$ 22.6 billion) from January to July this year. The figure is 16.6% higher than the one recorded in the same period of 2009, when the industry posted 34.4 billion reals (US$ 19.4 billion) in revenues. The figures were disclosed today (25th) by the Brazilian Machinery and Equipment Industry Association (Abimaq).
However, if the result recorded in the first seven months of 2010 is compared with that of the same period of 2008, when the effects of the world economic crisis were not yet felt in Brazil, the result points to a decline of 11.6%.
In July this year, industry revenues totalled 6.13 billion reals (US$ 3.45 billion), representing a reduction of 1.6% over the figure for June. Compared with July last year, there was growth of 19.3%.
