São Paulo – The Brazilian machinery and equipment industry recorded revenues of 46.8 billion reals (US$ 27.3 billion) from January to August this year, 12.8% more than in the same period of 2009, when the figure was 41.5 billion reals (US$ 24.2 billion).
However, there was a decline of 11.8% when comparing the result for the first eight months of 2010 with that of the same period of 2008, when the first signs of the world economic crisis had not been felt in Brazil yet.
In August this year, the industry posted revenues of 6.2 billion reals (US$ 3.6 billion), an increase of 1.9% over the figure recorded in July. There was growth of 0.87% compared with August last year. The figures were disclosed today (29th) by the Brazilian Machinery and Equipment Industry Association (Abimaq).
