São Paulo – Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply (MAPA, acronym in Portuguese) is accepting applications until the end of February from Brazilian companies interested in presenting projects to attract investments at the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) conference to be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from April 8 to 10.
The ministry will organize a pavilion for Brazil in the fair that integrates the forum program. According to the MAPA Foreign Investments and Cooperation Department acting director Rodrigo Da Matta, the stand will feature a “business lounge,” where the companies may present their projects to eventual investors, in addition to two meeting rooms.
The intention is to take 15 to 20 companies among those integrating the ministry’s portfolio of investment projects. According to Matta, it contains 204 projects worth a total of USD 4,5 billion. “We will also invite agribusiness entities with projects, as well as secretariats and development state agencies,” he said.
MAPA intends to encourage the attraction of investments to projects that “add value” to Brazilian agribusiness, such as ventures in the areas of supply or processing of agricultural and livestock products. In addition to the participation in AIM, the ministry plans to organize meetings with investment fund executives from UAE.
The Annual Investment Meeting is a initiative by the Emirati Ministry of Economy. The conference is specialized in foreign direct investments. The talks and debates are about this theme. The participants are representatives from governments, investment fund managers, banks, businessmen from multinational companies, consultants, college professors, multilateral organization directors, and institutions and companies interested in attracting funds to turn their projects into reality.
In addition to the panels, the forum offers an exhibition space (photo, in 2018) where governments and companies may present their projects. Last year, for example, the organization promoted business rounds between investors from the UAE and companies looking for funds for their ventures.
To exhibit in the MAPA’s pavilion, the companies must access the ministry’s website, follow the instructions, and apply. The application does not guarantee their participation, because there will be a selection of the companies most suited to the event.
The expenses with the pavilion, hiring receptionists, and producing the catalogue of the space will be paid by MAPA and the Itamaraty. The participants will have to pay for their passages, accommodations, food and other personal expenses, sample and promotional material dispatch, and credentials in AIM. The visitor pass is free, but there are other passes whose prices vary.
