São Paulo – One of the spring summer collection lines of the Brazilian fashion retail chain Marisa was inspired in the Moroccan city of Marrakech. The items are already on sale, alongside five other lines designed by the company for hot weather, including one called Desert.
The Marrakech clothing line is reminiscent of the Morocco’s exoticness and weather, with striking prints, earthy tones and embroidered details. According to material released by Marisa, the colour palette is warm and joyful, featuring beige tones combined with orange and coral. “The resulting look is buoyant and contemporary,” the company claims.
Ethnic prints have been combined with leopard designs, embroidery, and metal pushpins. The Marrakech-inspired items also include light-shaped clothes, such as printed overalls, trousers, fluid dresses, and carrot-style pants (which are broader at the top) and ethnic prints.
The Marisa spring-summer collection hit the stores in early August. In addition to the Marrakech and Desert lines, the fashion chain created Jungle Fever for younger people, featuring citric colours and tribal prints, Boneca de Luxo (Luxury Doll), which is 60s-inspired with lots of black and white, and Santorini, a more casual line inspired by the seas of Greece, and Acessórios da Vez (Trendy Accessories), featuring purses and scarves to go with the clothing.
Marisa has been on the market for over 60 years, and mostly targets female customers, although it does sell men’s and children’s wear at some stores. The company has 384 units at Brazilian streets and shopping centres, in the formats Marisa Ampliada (Expanded), Marisa Feminina (Feminine) and Marisa Lingerie, and it also sells online.
