Brasília – Financial institutions surveyed weekly by the Brazilian Central Bank (BC) revised down for the third straight week their forecasts for the decline of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), going from 1.76% to 1.8%. For 2016, the estimation calls for a slightly growth of 0.2%, the same as last week. The data is from the Focus Bulletin released this Monday (3rd).
Inflation’s forecast also worsened. The estimation for the Extended National Consumer Price Index (IPCA) went up for the 16th straight time, going from 9.23% to 9.25% this year. In 2016, the estimation calls for the index to stay at 5.4%, the same as last week.
The inflation forecasts are above the target center established by BC at 4.5%. In 2015, the forecast also goes above the target center with 6.5%.
The estimation for the dollar price went up from R$ 3.25 to R$ 3.35 at the end of 2015, and from R$ 3.40 to R$ 3.49 at the end of 2016.
