São Paulo – The World Bank has approved a US$ 10 million loan to Mauritania for fighting drought, according to a statement issued by the financial institution. The news were disclosed by the Panapress news agency.
The funds have been supplied by the International Development Association (IDA) and several donors. The aid is meant to ensure food security and the purchase of vaccines for rural communities plagued by the prolonged dry spell.
The Arab country is located in North Africa. The country has a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of US$ 4.2 billion and 50% of the country’s labour force is involved with agriculture.
