São Paulo – Mercedes-Benz Brazil sold 839 heavy lorries in the month of March, a monthly record high that surpassed the sales volume recorded in October last year, when 828 units were commercialised. Accumulated sales from January to March this year totalled more than 2,400 units, representing a 60% growth over the same period last year.
The sales volume for March is 35% greater than recorded in the same month of 2007. "Our performance in sales is mostly due to the success of the Axor heavy lorries among customers, who are profiting from many different transport operations," says the Sales vice president at Mercedes-Benz Brazil, Philipp Schiemer.
Thanks to its first-quarter performance, the brand maintained its leadership of the heavy lorry market with a 25% share. The Axor 2540 lorry was the highlight of sales in the month of March, with 266 units sold. Mercedes-Benz also led total lorry sales in the domestic market during the month of March, with 3,370 units sold.
