São Paulo – Mesquita Brasil in São Paulo holds special events for Ramadan, the current month of the Muslim calendar. During this period, which this year will run untill June 4 or 5, the believers fast from dawn until sunset.
Therefore, Sociedade Beneficente Muçulmana (SBM), which supports the mosque, offers a free “iftar”, the evening meal to end fast after sunset, from 5:30 or 5:45 pm. The institution is also distributing basic foods to the community.
Among other activities, every day the mosque holds the “Isha,” the night-time prayer, from 6:40 to 6:50 pm; and the “Tarawih,” which consists of prayers, recitations of the Quran, lectures, advices and guidance, as from 8 pm.
