São Paulo – Minerva slaughterhouse expanded exports by 43.3% in the first half of this year, according to information disclosed by the company. Foreign market revenues of the Brazilian organisation – a producer of meats – totalled US$ 346.8 million.
According to figures disclosed by the organisation, the growth shows efficiency in the commercial strategy of consolidation of new export markets and solid positioning in growing and profitable markets like the Middle East and Russia. The sector faces, in Brazil, hardships due to lack of cattle and high prices.
However, the slaughterhouse said through a press statement that figures recently disclosed by the Foreign Trade Secretariat, connected to the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, place the company in the 40th position among the main exporters to Brazil. Minerva is one of the national leaders in production and trade of beef, leather and live cattle.
The company closed the half as the third main exporter, among the slaughterhouses in the country, and in the 40th place among the main exporters. When compared to last year, the enterprise has risen 10 positions. The slaughterhouse exports to around 80 countries and has capacity to slaughter 5,500 heads of cattle a day, to produce 1,300 tonnes and produce five thousand hides.
Minerva has six plants for slaughter, seven for the removal of bones and two tanneries, as well as distribution centres. The organisation is present in the states of São Paulo, Goiás, Tocantins and Mato Grosso. Last year the company had net sales of 1.5 billion reals (US$ 950 million).
