São Paulo – The Omani minister of Commerce and Industry, Ali Al Sunaidy, convened this Wednesday morning (3) with Márcio França, the vice governor of the state of São Paulo. The main subject discussed was attracting investments, in particular to ports. “We want to build agreements with Brazilian ports. We have a strong capacity to export gas to anywhere in the world,” the state government’s press office quoted Al Sunaidy as saying.
The minister also went over the fact that Oman needs to import foodstuffs, and expressed his interest in having França or another official from the state government attend an agricultural industry expo set to take place in the Gulf country in October.
“It is very important for Brazilian entrepreneurs to become familiar with, invest in and start producing in Oman,” he asserted.
For the other side, França spoke on the current economic scenario that the country is facing and how São Paulo is dealing with it. “Despite the crisis, São Paulo has been showing to be very balanced. I like to use as a reference the opening of new companies. In 2015, the São Paulo Board of Trade opened 243,000 new companies, the same number we had in 2014”, he emphasized.
On the agricultural sector, the vice-governor reminded everyone of the importance of the state in this area. “São Paulo is the largest producer in the sum of agricultural products in the country and a lot of these products have as destinations the Arab countries”.
In the meeting, Al Sunaidy and França also spoke about the plans of intensifying the exchange student programs between the regions.
