São Paulo – The Brazilian minister of Defence, Nelson Jobim, is on a trip to the United Arab Emirates and met last Sunday (19th), in Abu Dhabi, with the head of the Arab country’s Armed Forces, lieutenant-general Mohammed Hamad Al Thani Rumaithi.
According to information published by the official news agency of the Arab country, Emirates News Agency (WAM), they discussed military cooperation and means for increasing exchange in the field.
Jobim also discussed the matter with the heir apparent of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The prince received the Brazilian minister, alongside his delegation, at the Al Bateen Palace, in the capital of the Emirates.
Aside from cooperation, the two discussed matters of mutual interest and exchanged impressions on recent global developments, according to WAM. Rumaithi also attended the meeting.
The Brazilian minister got to know facilities of the Armed Forces, such as an airbase and an arms centre, and visited defence industry companies. This Monday, Nelson Jobim had a scheduled visit to Dubai.
The trip to the Emirates is part of a larger international tour by the minister, which includes trips to the Czech Republic and Ukraine.
