São Paulo – A popular art festival, a handicraft fair and a gastronomy exhibition. This will all be under theme Morocco, but in Florianópolis. The government of the state of Santa Catarina has agreed with the city hall of Marrakech to promote these events in the state capital, on the same days as the international magic festival. As informed by ANBA, Florianópolis should promote a magic festival, in the moulds of the Moroccan edition, from October 1st to 3rd this year.
The agreement for promotion of exhibitions and festivals in the sidelines of the magic shows was signed during the trip of a delegation from the government and city to the Arab country. The international culture consultant of the state, Edson Machado, the secretary of international affairs of the Florianópolis City Hall, Bita Pereira, and businessman Carlos Olsen, travelled to Morocco last week, on the 17th of March, and returned on Wednesday, 25. They saw the International Magic Festival of Marrakech.
In the Arab country, they were received by the mayor of Marrakech, Omar Jazouli, and local authorities in the tourist sector. They also spoke about the possibility of promoting, during the magic festival, conferences and talks about culture, tourism and business, exhibitions of arts and friendly games between Moroccan teams and teams from Florianópolis. There is already a protocol of intentions to make the city of Marrakech and Florianópolis into sister cities. The agreement may also be signed in October.
Last February, the magician and organizer of the Moroccan festival, Baby Dahan, visited the capital of Santa Catarina to discuss the promotion of the event in Florianópolis. It should take place at Pedro Ivo Theatre and at the Event Centre of the Federal University of Santa Catarina and the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). There should also be magic presentations in the sidelines, in open or public places like squares, streets, shopping centres and schools.
According to a press advisor for the state of Santa Catarina, Florianópolis competed with Macau (China), and Marseille (France), for the promotion of the festival. Magicians like the French Bertran Lotth, the Italian Jean-Louis Galidie and the Hungarian Mickael Szanyiel, among others, from Spain, Austria, Germany and China, have already confirmed participation in the festival in Florianópolis.
