São Paulo – Morocco will host the Fifa Club World Cup in 2013 and 2014. The official announcement was made Saturday (17) by Fifa president Joseph Blatter during a meeting of the organization’s executive board in Tokyo, Japan.
Blatter said the 2013 and 2014 editions of the tournament, we have made the decision of entrusting the organization to Morocco. “We were given a presentation by the Moroccan Federation and I expect the tournament will be excellent in all aspects – logistical, cultural and financial,” said FIFA’s Sepp Blatter.
The championship organized by the Fifa was held in Brazil for the first time in 2000. The United Arab Emirates have also hosted the tournament in 2009 and 2010.
From 2005 to 2008, as well as in 2011, the Cup took place in Japan. The final match, held on Sunday (18th), was won by Barcelona, the leading Spanish team, which beat the Brazil-based Santos by 4X0. Al Saad, a Qatari team, won third place by defeating the Japanese Kashiwa Reysol.
