São Paulo – Morocco will host the 2nd World Human Rights Forum, in December 2014. The 3rd Forum, in 2015, will take place in Argentina. The Moroccan representative Ahmed Harzenni gave thanks to the Brazilian government and the attendees. In Portuguese, Harzenni said "Viva os direitos humanos e a amizade entre os países" (Hooray for human rights and friendship between countries). The delegate from Argentina’s Institute of Public Policies for Human Rights (IPPDH), Victor Abramovich, thanked Brazil on behalf of this country and spoke on cooperation between the countries.
The creation of the National System for Fighting Torture and the summoning of the 1st National Human Rights Conference, in 2015, have been named this Friday (13th) as the main outcomes of the World Human Rights Forum (WHRF) by the minister at the Brazilian secretariat for Human Rights, Maria do Rosário. The meeting took place from December 10th to 13th in Brasília. According to Rosário, massive participation from the civil society, human rights defence organizations, and government was another highlight of the meeting.
Throughout the week, several human rights-related issues were discussed – like fighting torture, minority rights, police violence, reduction of the age of majority, police violence, indigenous peoples’ rights, sexual violence, internet security, and reform of the State.
