São Paulo – At 6th position in the global market, Brazil should end 2014 with a decline of 3% in the manufacturing and sales of motorcycles. The projection was presented this Wednesday (16th) by the Brazilian Association of Motorcycle, Autocycle, Scooter and Bicycle Manufacturers (Abraciclo), which had, in the beginning of the year, forecasted stability. The new forecast reflects the low performance of domestic market.
As regards exports, they closed the first semester with a hike of 1.6%, with 45,400 units. From May to June, however, foreign sales declined by 31.5%. According to data from the Abraciclo, business was affected by World Cup matches. Abraciclo’s chairman, Marcos Fermanian, said through a communiqué that the sector will try to make a rebound in the second semester. “At the second semester, the sector will focus in the need for a recovery of sales volume and adjustment in stocks.”
