São Paulo – This Saturday (7th), a new chapter of the group Alecrim (Portuguese for rosemary) will open in the city of Chtaura, in the Bekaa Valley, in Lebanon. The initiative is developed in several countries around the world, including Lebanon, allowing Brazilians living overseas to promote activities aiming to convey Brazilian culture to the children.
In Chtaura, the group will meet at the Prime Center, a Brazilian business compound owned by the Zoghbi group. According to one of the coordinators of Alecrim Lebanon, Roberto Khatlab, the group leased the premises to host the activities in Chtaura, which will be held on a regular basis. On Saturday the 7th, the activities will run from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm and will be themed after Easter.
Alecrim Lebanon is backed by the Brazilian consulate general in Beirut and the Centre for Latin American Studies and Cultures (Cecal, in the Portuguese acronym) of the Université Saint-Esprit de Kaslik. According to Khatlab, Alecrim groups will soon be established in Egypt and Palestine.
