São Paulo – The Lebanon-based Institute for Palestine Studies launched the online blog Palestine Square last week, focusing on political and cultural aspects of Palestine. All contents are written in English.
The blog is designed to feature scholars’ analyses of the latest developments of the Palestinian issue as pertains to international law, human rights, the right to self-determination, and the regional, geopolitical and international fallout from the conflict in Palestine and Israel.
The blog’s Palestine Unbound section picks up on mainstream media discussions on Palestine and the Arab-Israeli conflict. The section discusses and comments on current events involving Palestine.
Art Square is a section highlighting Palestinian culture, including art, poetry, books and films, plus a monthly series of Palestinian artist profiles featuring exclusive interviews and reviews of exhibitions, films and books. The section will also break the latest news on the work of Palestinian artists in the United States, theater plays and films, and other culture-related topics.
Founded in 1963, the Institute for Palestine Studies was the first in the world devoted to documenting, researching, analyzing and publishing articles on the Palestinian issue and the Arab-Israeli conflict. It is an independent, private, non-profit organization.
The institute also has offices in Ramallah, West Bank, and in Washington, United States. The Palestine unit has operated since 1995, and the American office is active since 1982.
