Rio de Janeiro – In broad expansion in the country, the so called new Brazilian middle class already generates annually around BRL 1 trillion (USD 298 billion), from which BRL 56 billion (USD 16.71 billion) generated by residents of communities, which comes to a total of 12 million people living in the underprivileged suburbs.
The data is part of a survey on the consumer market comprised by residents of communities that, despite the crisis, is still in expansion. The survey was conducted by the company Outdoor Social as a marketing tool with the goal of integrating residents of suburb communities throughout Brazil in the formal economy.
The survey found out that the percentage of people living in suburb communities in the large cities throughout the country ranges from 8% in the city of Vitória, Espírito Santo, to the 54% in Belém, Pará, in the North of Brazil.
