São Paulo – The concession auction for exploring the BR-163 road, in the state of Mato Grosso, held this Wednesday morning (27th) at the da BM&FBovespa headquarters, was won by the Odebrecht S/A group, in a bidding round in which seven conglomerates or individual companies participated. The road toll set in the winning bid is R$ 2.63 (US$ 1.14) every 100 kilometres, down 52.03% from the maximum amount set by the federal government at R$ 5.50 (US$ 2.39).
The auction winner should invest in the road’s improvement and will explore for 30 years a stretch of 850.9 km, at the boundary with the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, up until the city of Sinop. This is the third phase of the Federal Road Concession Program. The BR-163 should benefit from implementation of local lanes at urban crossings, intersections, pedestrian bridges, and access improvements, including the building of a 10.9 km ring road in Rondonópolis.
