Rio de Janeiro – The 13th round of biddings of the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) has 24 companies interested. From these, 23 already paid the fee to participate in the auctions. The number was reported this Tuesday (4th) by ANP’s director José Gutman.
“We have been receiving good signals, such as having 24 companies expressing interest and 23 that already paid the fee”, said the director. He took part of the Technical-Environmental Seminar this Tuesday in Rio de Janeiro.
The deadline for the interested companies to pay the fee is August 11th, and those already registered have until September 23rd to present guarantees for the offer. The public presentation of the biddings to buy the blocs will be on October 7th and the signing of the concession contracts is scheduled to December 23th.
For the director, the price of the oil barrel, which is costing around US$ 50, won’t negatively impact the round: “The companies that are in the business anticipate long term”.
In all, the 13th round will offer 266 blocs in ten basins at sea or land in the North, Northeast, South and Southeast of the country. The blocs are being offered for exploring, which is the confirmation of the presence of oil viable for production. When viability is confirmed, the companies can then start to produce. Otherwise, the blocs will be returned to ANP.
