Rio de Janeiro – Oil company Petrobras announced yesterday (16) the beginning of deep-water production at Espírito Santo Basin, in southeastern Brazil, from floating platform Seillean, which has started operating in Golfinho (Dolphin) Field.
Initial daily production is expected to be 21,000 barrels of oil, during the test phase, and it will be used to evaluate the behaviour of the reserves. The well produces light and good quality oil (API gravity 28.5) and this is the fist experience in deep-water exploration outside Campos Basin.
The Seillean platform will operate in the pilot phase of production at Golfinho, and platforms and adapted tanker platforms (FPSO) Capixabas and Cidade de Vitória will take this half and in the first half of 2007, respectively. These units have a capacity for the processing of 100,000 barrels of oil a day.
Platforms of the FPSO type are adapted tankers, converted into floating production, processing, storage and offloading units for oil and natural gas.
