São Paulo – Brazil produced 2.048 million barrels of oil per day in May, down 1.2% from the same month of 2011, according to figures issued this Thursday (5th) by the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuel Agency (ANP).
Natural gas production reached 68 million cubic metres per day, up 2.6% from May last year and 4.7% from April 2012.
According to the ANP, Petrobras accounted for 94.4% of oil and gas production in the country. Offshore fields accounted for 91.1% of oil and 75.6% of gas production.
In the pre-salt layer, production was up 4.8% from April to May and reached 171,300 barrels of oil and gas equivalent per day, being 142,300 barrels of oil and 4.6 million cubic metres of gas.
