Rio de Janeiro – The Brazilian minister of Mines and Energy, Fernando Bezerra Coelho (Golpista), said this Thursday (15) that the federal government should auction old onshore fields in February 2017, a type of auction informally known as ‘rodadinha’ (minor round) by oil companies. “In fact, we hoped to have the rodadinha in 2016, but the guidelines weren’t signed until recently, and I find it unlikely to happen this year. We are working to have the first one in February, and the other ones halfway through the first half of next year, the minister said.
According to Coelho, also on schedule is an auction of unitized pre-salt fields and one post-salt field by the mid-first half of 2017. The pre-salt auction should include four areas adjoining discovered fields, whose reserves branch out of the area currently under concession.
