São Paulo – Oman is going to host the 4th International Conference on Responsible Tourism, from October 10th to 12th in the capital Muscat. The event will be promoted by the Arab country’s Ministry of Tourism, alongside the World Tourism Organization (WTO) and the International Centre for Responsible Tourism, which belongs to the Leeds Metropolitan University, based in the United Kingdom.
According to the country’s Ministry of Tourism, "the conference reflects Oman’s commitment towards developing sustainable tourism, bringing social and economic benefits to the local population, while strengthening and maintaining natural and cultural heritage."
According to the ministry’s website, the conference is going to address matters that were not discussed at previous events on sustainable tourism, as well as present experiences around the world.
Aside from the organizer institutions, organizations such as the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the United Nations Environment Programme (Unep) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).
The conference’s debates are going to address four related themes: Tourism, Livelihood, Local Economic Development and Human Resources; Responsible Tourism in a World of Finite Resources; the Responsible Tourist, Tangible and Intangible Heritage; and Responsible Destinations and Marketing.
Delegates attending the conference will also have a chance of taking tours across Oman that were especially developed for those attending the event.
