(Source: Info-Prod Research (Middle East)) tracking According to ANBA: The drilling of one more oil well in Tupi field the fourth drilled in the largest field ever discovered in the pre-salt layer by Petrobras has confirmed the Brazilian state- owned company’s estimated potential for exploration of 5 to 8 billion barrels of light oil and natural gas at the reservoir in Santos Basin. According to a press statement disclosed by Petrobras yesterday evening (12), the well is located at 2,115 metres below the water line, at a distance of around 265 kilometres from the coast of Rio de Janeiro and 18 kilometres Northeast of the discovery well, named Tupi. According to the company’s press statement, a thick section (approximately 250 meters) of reservoirs was drilled and light oil was found, sampled via tests at depths beginning at 4,900 meters. Formation tests aimed to assess the productivity of block BMF 11 are scheduled to begin in the next few weeks. Petrobras informs that the consortium, formed by the state-owned oil company (65% – Operator), BG Group (25%) and Galp (10%), to explore Tupi area, will carry on with the activities and investments called for in the Assessment Plan which was approved by the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuel Agency, which also foresees the drilling of other wells in the area.
