São Paulo – The Senac Rio Fashion Business, to take place in the sidelines of the parades of the Fashion Rio, should bring together 310 Brazilian exhibitors from the 10th to the 13th of January, at Marina da Glória, in Rio de Janeiro. The number of visitors should exceed 50,000.
For the business salon, investment totalled 16 million reals (US$ 9.6 million), 25% more than the total invested in the previous edition. Of the 310 exhibitors, 250 are in female, male, beach, party and casual fashion and accessories, and another 60 are in services, equipment and technology, to show their products in the Tech pavilion.
The event includes a campaign for visitors to be made aware of the dispersion of technological waste. At the salon there should be a space for the collection of mobile phones, computers and old chargers, to be sent to recycling.
The opening of the event, to take place on Sunday (9), should include parades by stylists like Carlos Miele and Patrícia Viera, at Copacabana Palace, and Victor Dzenk, at Cine Odeon. This 17th edition of the event covers theme "Alchemy", "a new proposal for business in the fashion world: joining style, innovation, sustainability, culture, music, gastronomy and all other elements that allow consumers to see purchases not just as consumption, but as something that adds value to the universe and, with this, generates fidelity," he said, in a press statement disclosed by Senac Rio Fashion Business.
According to the president of the Rio de Janeiro Federation of Trade, Orlando Diniz, the garment and accessory market is the third main employer in the state and the second in Brazil. Last year, Fashion Business had a turnover of 770 million reals (US$ 460 million) in business.
During the event, there will be fashion parades, talks, debates and presentations turned to retailers and travellers.
The Fashion Rio parades, to present the 2011 Autumn-Winter collection, started on Tuesday (11) with 25 brands and end on the 15th, at Píer Mauá, a maritime terminal in the Port of Rio de Janeiro. The fashion week attracts buyers from all over Brazil and abroad.
