Brasília – The buoyant dollar has led overseas spending by Brazilians to drop 52.67% in October of this year from a year ago, to USD 1.002 billion in October, the Central Bank reported this Thursday (26th). In the first ten months of the year, spending reached USD 15.141 billion, down 30.21%.
Spending by foreigners during trips to Brazil reached USD 453 million in October and USD year-to-date. The resulting international travel account deficit was USD 549 million in October and USD 10.355 billion year-to-date, the all-time lowest numbers for these periods of the year since records started being kept in 2010.
