Brasília – Spending by Brazilians in other countries increased for the third straight month in October, the Brazilian Central Bank said, to USD 1.421 billion, up 41.82% from October 2015. Foreign travellers spent USD 434 million in Brazil last month, down from USD 435 million in October 2015. Year-to-date spending reached USD 5.1 billion, up from USD 4.786 billion in the year-ago period.
As a result, international travel spending showed a USD 988 million deficit in October and a USD 6.8 billion deficit through October.
