Brasília – Overseas spending by Brazilians reached USD 1.716 billion in September, up 32.6% year-on-year, the Brazilian Central Bank said on Thursday (26). Year-to-date through September, spending climbed 15.9% from the year-ago period to USD 14.145 billion.
The joint chief of the Central Bank’s Economic Department, Renato Baldini, explained that the fact that the US dollar is weaker this year than in the last is conducive to Brazilians taking trips abroad. He also said the economy is recovering gradually, and should drive up trips to other countries over time.
