Brasília – Spending by Brazilians during international trips reached USD 1.330 billion in September, the Central Bank (BC) reported this Thursday (24). It’s the highest value for the month since September 2017, when it stood at USD 1.716 billion. In September 2018, spending reached USD 1.189 billion.
According to the head of BC’s Statistics Department, Fernando Rocha, September’s result breaks a series of slides in expenditures during travels seen in the last months. “But it’s not necessarily a pattern,” he said. Rocha stressed that, year-to-date, this expenditures during travels reached USD 13.444 billion, down from USD 13;875 year-on-year.
And expenditure by foreign travelers in Brazil amounted to USD 391 million, up from USD 375 million year-on-year in September. Year-to-date spending was USD 4.529 billion, up from USD 4.513 from a year ago.
