São Paulo – A new multipurpose sports centre was inaugurated last Saturday (19th) in the city of Ramallah, Palestine. It is the first project completed in the country by the Ibsa Fund. The fund is a partnership involving India, Brazil and South Africa. An inauguration ceremony was held to celebrate the centre’s completion.
The Ibsa countries are also carrying out two other projects in Palestine: the overhaul of the hospital and cultural centre of the Palestine Red Crescent Society (Al Quds Hospital), in the Gaza Strip, and the building of a centre for people with special needs in the city of Nablus.
Established in 2004, the Ibsa Fund aims to back self-sustained projects, replicable projects. The intention is to take advantage of the experience and abilities available to the Ibsa member countries to aid other nations, especially the less developed ones, or those where conflicts have taken place recently. The Ibsa also aims to contribute to the meeting of the Millennium Development Goals.
