São Paulo – The Embassy of Palestine in Brazil held an event on Wednesday, May 15, to celebrate Nakba, the catastrophe that the Palestinian people went through in 1948 after the establishment of the State of Israel and the massive displacement of 88% of their population from their lands. In parallel to the event in the embassy in Brasília, other activities were held across Brazil to mark the date at a time when Palestinians are faced with a severe conflict with Israel.
The event in the embassy was attended by ambassadors and religious leaders from the Islam and other faiths, who stressed the Brazilian support to the rights of the Palestinians and called for an end of the Israeli aggression. Palestine’s ambassador to Brazil, Ibrahim Alzeben, said the Palestinian people is facing a new Nakba in the Gaza Strip.
