São Paulo – The film Five Broken Cameras has been nominated for the Best Documentary Film Prize of Hollywood’s Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The nomination was announced last Thursday (10th).
The documentary portrays the life of the film’s director, the photographer Emad Burnat, who filmed Israeli violations, police raids, and non-violent protests against Israel’s occupation of Bilin Village, northeast of Ramallah.
The film title refers to the five cameras that were destroyed by Israeli soldiers as Burnat recorded the struggles of the people in Bilin.
