Curitiba – To attract new industries to the interior of the state, Paraná should alter, starting on Thursday (25), the percentages of taxes levied on companies and should extend the span for breaks on the value added state tax (ICMS). Apart from that, the state should create committees for individual analysis of company request for fiscal benefits.
The government hopes to attract new domestic and international investment with the Paraná Competitivo (Competitive Paraná) programme to be signed today in Londrina. The adopting of a new fiscal policy, according to the government, seeks expansion of competitiveness of the state, modernizing and alleviating the current legislation.
According to Finance secretary Luiz Carlos Hauly, with the program, Paraná gains one of the "best policies for attraction of industries" in the Centre-South, South and Southeast. "The project focuses specially on the interior of the state, stimulating businessmen to make new investment with the reduction of the span for payment of the ICMS."
Companies benefited may have ICMS discounts ranging from 10% to 90%, for two to eight years. According to the secretary, with the new measures, companies may increase their productive capacity. The incentives may also be granted for the consumption of electric energy, qualification of labour and infrastructure.
