Brasília – The percentage of Brazilian industrial output that was exported increased in 2016. According to data by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) made public this Thursday (9), the export percentage of the Brazilian industry went up from 14.3% in 2015 to 16.3% last year. The indicator has gone up 4.2 percentage points over 2014, which was the year with the lowest percentage since the start of the series in 2003.
CNI attributes the hike to both the increase of the volume exported to the decline of domestic sales. Among the sectors that registered the sharpest increase in export rate last year are tobacco, wood, vehicles, machinery and equipment, steel products, wood pulp and paper.
