São Paulo – Brazilian meat and derivatives company Perdigão reached an agreement with Dutch holding Cebeco Groep BV for the purchase of its subsidiary, Plusfood Groep BV. The purchase still depends on certain procedures, such as audits and consultations to worker councils and unions. The information was provided by the press office at the Brazilian company.
Perdigão offered 30 million euros (US$ 40.3 million) for Plusfood. The company manufactures processed and convenience products made of poultry and bovine meat. It owns two popular brands in Europe: Fribo, for hamburgers, which is also being purchased by Perdigão, and Friki, for poultry meat products, to be used by Perdigão for up until five years.
The company owns three industrial plants in Holland, the United Kingdom, and Romania. Plusfood has an installed capacity for manufacturing approximately 20,000 tonnes per year of finished products, and its annual revenue is approximately 70 million euros (US$ 94.2 million). Rabobank International Brasil, located in the southeastern Brazilian city of São Paulo, and Rabobank Securities, from Amsterdam, provided consultancy to Perdigão for the transaction.
