São Paulo – Pet food company Nutrire will participate in Gulfood, biggest food and beverage fair in the Middle East, in Dubai, for the third year running at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce stand. In 2017, the participation in the fair made possible for them to enter a new market in the region, Bahrein, and in 2018, they started operating in Suriname and Curaçao also thanks to the fair, as the company export manager Giane Danielli (photo above, in 2018 Gulfood) told ANBA.
Nutrire joined Arab Brazilian Chamber last year, and according to Danielli, the intention behind this year participation is to reach new markets, increase sales in the preexistent ones, and give their brands more visibility. “We also use this moment to have meetings with our clients from countries such as the UAE, Lebanon, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, in order to strengthen relations and increase sales,” she told. Gulfood occurs from February 17 to 21 and will include a stand organized by the Arab Brazilian Chamber.
According to Danielli, the company sells dry food for animals, containing vitamins and minerals, with different products for each life phase of the pets. “The company has four lines of products divided in six brands, Bold, Bancat and Bandit (standard line), Birbo (premium line), Monello (special premium line), and Monello Select (high premium line),” she explained.
Nutrire was founded in 2001 and started operating in the international market in 2004. “We ship 30% of the total volume produced, 18% of this to seven Arab countries, Bahrein, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait,” said Danielli. In 2017, 12.5% of the sales were to the Arabs.
For this Gulfood edition, Danielli said she hopes to make deals with Qatar and Oman, two potential new markets in Gulf. “We are already negotiating with importers from both countries, and in the fair we’ll have the opportunity to meet them personally and resume conversations,” she declared.
The manager stressed the importance of the relations with the Arab market. “It is very important for a company to be there because it is something the Arabs really value in their negotiations,” said Danielli. According to her, the simple fact that Nutrire already operates in the UAE gives them more chances to amplify the participation in the market with other clients in the Gulf country. “They value companies already present in the country, feeling more confidence to negotiate with us,” she stated.
Nutrire exports to more than thirty countries in South America, Central America, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Colombia is their main market, followed by Uruguay, Egypt, Paraguay and Saudi Arabia. International market buyers are importers and distributors, which redirect products to the stores. In Brazil, the company is present in 13 states.
Danielli reported that the two largest pet food fairs in the world are Interzoo in Nuremberg, Germany, and Global Pet Expo in Orlando, USA. “In regions such as the Gulf, where there is no fair specialized in pet products, we are participating in human food and multisectoral fairs, with great results; many importers from smaller countries, such as the Caribbean ones, participate in events like Gulfood and buy all sorts of products, so we managed to close deals in Curaçao last year for example,” she concluded.
