Rio de Janeiro – The Brazilian state-owned oil company Petrobras announced yesterday (12th) it has discovered oil in the Cabaça Southeast-1 well, in Angola, Africa. Reservoirs with 450 metres of thickness have been proven, containing “at least” 500 million barrels of high-quality oil.
The company’s press office announced that the well is located at a depth of 470 metres, 100 kilometres off the Angolan coast. The exploration license provides for the drilling of eight wells. Thus far, six out of seven wells drilled yielded positive results.
Petrobras has been operating in Angola since 1979 and is considered one of the country’s leading petroleum companies.
