Rio de Janeiro – Petrobras informed on Friday (24) that the production of oil and natural gas in Brazil and abroad totalled 2.73 million barrels of oil equivalent a day in January. The volume is 2.6 % greater than that registered in January 2011 and 0.5 % more than in December.
In Brazilian fields, production reached 2.49 million barrels of oil equivalent a day, with growth of 2.8% in comparison with January last year and 1% as against December. Production of oil alone reached 2.11 million barrels of oil a day, 2% more than in January 2011 and 1.2% over the total in December.
According to Petrobras, the growth in production was the result of the start of production of linked to platforms P-57, in Jubarte Field, P-56, in Marlim Sul field, and the long-term test in Aruanã, in the post-salt layer in southern Campos Basin.
Production of natural gas in the national fields reached 60.4 million cubic metres a day, growth of 7.6% over January 2011. As against December, the volume is stable.
