São Paulo – Pharmaceutical company União Química, based in the city of São Paulo, is negotiating and registering its products in the Middle East. According to the woman in charge of the company’s export department, Maranata Joquebede, the first contracts with the Arab market should be signed before the year ends.
“Our negotiations are at an advanced stage, we are registering the products there. Then it will be just a matter of setting details of the contracts,” said Maranata. According to her, the opportunities to do business with the Arab countries came up during the company’s participation in the Healthcare fair, held in Damascus, Syria, in April.
“The Healthcare fair of 2010 was a good opportunity for Química to promote its brand and introduce its products and services to a large number of visitors from all over the world,” said the executive. The fair receives exhibitors, specialized visitors, and those who wish to explore the latest innovations in the medical industries of 42 countries.
Last Tuesday (25th), the executive participated in a business roundtable with Saudi company Batterjee Factory, promoted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, at the organization’s headquarters.
Founded in 1936, União Química is one of the leading enterprises in the Brazilian pharmaceutical industry. The company, which has 100% national capital, generates 2,000 jobs and offers lines of pharmaceutical products, generic drugs, and ophthalmological products, and also operates in the veterinary market.
The company began exporting approximately three years ago, to Latin American and African countries, and foreign sales still account for a small share of its revenues. “We have only started doing stronger brand internationalization work recently, and we are betting on the opening of the Arab market in order to increase our foreign Sales,” stated Maranata.
