São Paulo – Philip Morris, the world’s second largest tobacco producer, is building a new industrial plant in the city of Santa Cruz do Sul, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, where the company also processes tobacco.
The new installations will receive investment of 110 million Brazilian reals (US$ 66 million) and were the theme of a meeting, last week, between state governor Tarso Genro and the company directors. This information was disclosed by the press advisory of the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
The new factory will cover 40,000 square meters of built area and also state-of-the-art technology. Currently, the company employs 1,200 tonnes. Expectations are for the creation of new direct jobs and also 400 indirect ones in the construction phase.
