São Paulo – Brazilian pork revenues generated US$ 121.8 million in the month of October, an increase of 55% over the same period in 2004. The shipment totalled 65,500 tonnes, 45% more than in the same month last year, according to figures disclosed today (10) by the Brazilian Pork Exporters Association (Abipecs).
From January to October this year, foreign sales of the product have already totalled US$ 1 billion, growth of 63% in comparison to the first ten months of last year. Shipment totalled 539,100 tonnes of pork, 27.4% more than in the same period in 2004.
To Russia, the main market for Brazilian pork, shipments totalled 348,600 tonnes between January and October, which corresponds to 40% of the total shipped in the period. Exports of the product to the Russians totalled US$ 696.5 million, 87.5% more than in the same period last year.
