São Paulo – The performance of Brazilian poultry exports in September was very similar to the one registered in the same month of last year. Data released by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) on Tuesday (3) shows a slight increase in exports in both volume, 0.2%, and revenues, 0.1%.
Brazilian companies shipped abroad 387,500 tons of poultry last month, including in the total all kinds of poultry-related products, from fresh to processed. In September 2016, the exports volume totaled 386,900 tons.
Revenues from these exports reached USD 640.757 million last month, against USD 640.024 million in the same period of 2016.
According to Francisco Turra, CEO of ABPA, some Arab countries registered outstanding numbers in the month. “Sales to South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Mexico contributed to the good monthly performance of poultry sales,” he said in a statement.
With this result, the sector’s performance year-to-date remains positive in revenues, but still negative in volume. From January to September, 3.309 million tons were shipped, down 2.1% over the 3.379 million tons shipped in the first nine months of 2016. However, in a statement, ABPA pointed out that the difference remains at 70,000 tons, the same volume registered until August.
The association believes it will improve volume until the end of the year to close 2017 with an equivalent result to 2016.
In value, exports generated USD 5.526 billion in the year’s first nine months, up 5.5% over the USD 5.238 billion registered in the same period of last year.
