São Paulo – Brazilian exports of poultry increased 5.5% in volume in the first eight months of this year over the same period of last year, according to data released this Tuesday (1st) by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). In all, 2.82 million tons were shipped from January to August of 2015 against 2.67 million tons in the same months of 2014. Revenues in reais also went up 25.3% in the same comparison with R$ 15 billion. Revenues in dollars had a decline of 7.7% to US$ 4.85 billion.
In August alone, 382,400 tons were shipped, a number 12.2% higher than the total of the eighth month of last year. Revenues in reais increased 46.7% with R$ 2.29 billion. Revenues in dollar declined 5.3% with US$ 651.5 million.
