São Paulo – Brazilian poultry exports went up 5% from January to October over the same period of 2015, according to data made public by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) this Friday (4). In the first ten months of the year, 3.7 million tons were shipped abroad and that includes all categories of products – fresh, encased and other processed types.
In October, however, foreign sales dropped 4.5% against the same month of last year to a total of 314,700 tons. One of the reasons, as pointed out to ABPA’s vice-president, Ricardo Santin, in a statement, were changes in the rhythm of sales orders by some countries.
“In September, exports to Japan reached 47,000 tons against a monthly average of 32,000 tons in the previous months. The total of 22,000 tons shipped to the country in October show that part of the sales volume was moved up to the previous month”, explained the executive in the statement.
There was also an interruption in exports of products of five plants to China due to paperwork adjustments, and no shipments to Venezuela, which had bought, in October 2015, 10,000 tons of Brazilian poultry. All of this had an impact in the month’s results, according to ABPA.
Revenues declined 2,2% in October to USD 509.9 million. Year-to-date, Brazilian exports totaled USD 5.8 billion, a decline of 3.6%.
