Rio de Janeiro – Oil production at the fields operated by Petrobras in the pre-salt areas at the Santos and Campos basins reached, on April 11th, 800,00 barrels of oil equivalent (oil and natural gas), a daily extraction record for the region.
In a press release this Wednesday (13th), Petrobras points out that the production of 800,000 barrels per day was reached eight years after the first oil discovery in the pre-salt layer in 2006, a shorter period than needed to reach the same level of extraction in other maritime production areas.
“It took 40 years and the contribution from 6,374 wells for Petrobras to reach, in Brazil, the oil production of 800,000 barrels per day. At the Campos Basin, this same volume of production was reached in 24 years, with 423 wells”, says the release.
